Alibaba has announced a major reshuffle in its leadership team as it faces increasing competition in society cloud hosting infrastructure provider space.

He will replace Jeff Zhang, who will now focus on Alibaba DAMO Academy, including some of the company’s IoT initiatives.

TechCrunch (opens in a new tab) reports that the company’s servers in Hong Kong recently suffered a “major outage” that left many services, such as the popular crypto exchange OKX, unavailable for up to a day, making it one of the biggest Chinese data center outages in recent history.
Other changes include the appointment of Wu Zeming as CTO and the promotion of company co-founder Jane Jiang to Chief People Officer.
Alibaba says it hopes regular role changes will help the company stay agile.
“As the country enters a new stage of life with Covid and policy makers have been guiding the future development of the platform economy, we are more confident than ever that continued development is the key to solving the challenges we face today,” Zhang wrote in an internal employee email. .
Alibaba remains a major player in the data center industry and is well positioned to grow further, but the company still faces several major challenges.
