Forza Motorsport was first announced in 2020. It has been clear since then that it is being developed as a kind of series reboot that focuses on pure gameplay and racing presentation.
Turn10 is working on an upcoming racer and while we know roughly when it will be released, we don’t have much detail. There have been very few official Forza Motorsport disclosures recently, which casts some doubts as to whether we will be playing sooner or later.
While much still remains a mystery, it certainly looks like it will be the technical showcase of what Xbox Series X can really do. We can’t wait to see how it compares to Gran Turismo 7 on PS5.
For now, here’s everything we know about Forza Motorsport, including the car list and the route list for everything that has been revealed so far. You will also find information on when it is likely to be released, as well as some new technologies that will be presented this time. As new details become available, you will find this page updated with the latest news and rumors.

Forza Motorsport: release date and platforms
Forza Motorsport will be available in Spring 2023 (possibly between March and June) and will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
Since the game is designed for the latest consoles available, we can reasonably expect it to take advantage of some new features, such as ray tracing and 120 frames per second. There are rumors that Forza Motorsport will also be coming to Xbox One, but that remains unconfirmed. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
However, there are some doubts about this launch window at present. During September monthly magazine Forza (opens in a new tab) Stream, CEO Dan Greenawalt and Creative Director Chris Esaki have offered a development update, confirming that refinement will not start until next year. Greenawalt said:
“The last stage, which will come next year, is the Polish language. [Forza] Motorsports and many new systems that you re-consider offer a lot of polishing surface. This takes a long time. The true art of creating games is biting off more than you can polish. […] We are now deep in production and we will enter this Polish phase sometime next year. “
Microsoft has yet to confirm any delays, but we’ll update them when we know more.
Forza Motorsport: The Gameplay
Forza Motorsport looks like a racing simulation as clean as it gets, providing a major update to what Forza Motorsport 7 has to offer. For starters, it will be a “huge generational leap” over previous games. Chris Esaki, the game’s creative director, shared details about the evolution of Forza Motorsport physics from Forza Motorsport 7.
“To put the work on physics from a different perspective … the changes we’ve made so far to Forza Motorsport 7 are more than the changes we’ve made. [Forza Motorsport] 4 to [Forza Motorsport] 7. It’s basically a huge generational leap in the game. ”
According to Esaka, the tire collision model has also been rebuilt. From the first game to Forza Motorsport 7, the tires always had one point of contact with the track surface and were refreshed at 60 cycles per second (60 Hz).
There are now eight contact points with the track surface in Forza Motorsport, and the engine refreshes at 360 cycles per second (360 Hz). That’s a 48x jump in fidelity in a single tire collision. Many tire blends have also been confirmed, first the series. Tire compounds such as hard, medium and soft will deepen the gameplay and racing strategy, and Esaki said it would lead to “exciting new gameplay decisions during the race.”
According to Esaki, Forza Motorsport will also need to consider environmental factors that could make each lap different.
“We are working on things like track temperature and how it affects things like grip and tire pressure and tire wear. Plus, you can imagine how the changes in the time of day and weather, along with the new tire wear modeling and all the new compounds, lead to a much deeper driving and racing experience. ”
Forza Motorsport trailers
official trailer
During the Xbox and Bethesda show in June 2022, Forza Motorsport received an official new trailer. Lasting just over a minute, we looked at just how hard the Turn10 is pushing down on this new Xbox hardware.
Gameplay demo
The teaser preview of Forza Motorsport was immediately preceded by a stunning gameplay demo that featured a fictional track known as Maple Valley. Taking full advantage of ray tracing and the new dynamic timing features, see it to believe it and you can watch the full demo below.
Announcement trailer
Forza Motorsport was announced the world premiere of the trailer at Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase in 2020. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, but the footage from the engine is certainly impressive. Check it out below:
Forza Motorsport: Gameplay Tests
Turn 10 revealed that Forza feedback panel (opens in a new tab) will be a way for players to earn more Forza Motorsport for the game to be shaped by the community. Registration is simple: you must be 18 years of age or older and agree to a privacy statement, which you can opt out of at any time if you choose to leave the program.
The first gameplay test took place on May 8, 2021, and brought “a ton of great feedback” from the community. According to Creative Director Chris Esaka. Esaki said that after testing the game, the team was pretty sure everyone was “very excited and excited” about what was shown. He also explained that the reason only small parts of the game are tested is because Turn 10 is getting “critical feedback” about the “focus areas”.
But if you missed the first gameplay test, don’t be afraid. More gameplay tests are expected to take place in the future, but we look forward to the exact date when they will take place.
Forza Motorsport: Car List
What cars can we expect in Forza Motorsport, and more importantly, which vehicle will decorate the game cover? While it’s currently hard for us to guess the entire list, at least we know how many cars will be in the game, based on the sum of Forza Motorsport 7.
700 cars and 32 tracks appeared in Forza Motorsport 7, which is an impressive number. While there is no guarantee that the next game will beat that number, largely due to the fact that cars will likely need to be rebuilt or upgraded for next-gen systems, we hope Forza Motorsport will come closer to that number.
To date, 41 cars have been confirmed in Forza Motorsport, including nine new ones. In fact, user YoungRhombus has kept the current list on the GT Planet forums (opens in a new tab). A huge thank you to them as we used this list to help build the one pictured below:

Xbox One on cards?
Initially thought to be an Xbox Series X | S exclusive console with the PC release, the leaked images suggest Forza Motorsport could potentially make an appearance on Xbox One as well.
Earlier this year, on r / gamingleaksand rumors (opens in a new tab)There are two preview photos of Forza Motorsport, reportedly taken in July 2021. There is not much to draw from the pictures alone, they only show the garage and the team looking to start this race, but the interesting thing is, they are rumored to come from an Xbox One build.
This was “verified” by the mod on this subreddit, although it was not officially confirmed by Microsoft and Turn 10. Around the same time, separate rumors emerged about Forza Motorsport from Jez Corden of Windows Central, who advised on the latest Xbox Two podcast it’s in beta and some influencers have already played it.
Neither version for the Xbox One has been mentioned before, and given how the game is supposed to take advantage of newer features like 4k resolution and ray tracing, it would certainly be a surprise.
